IAP’s Mike Davis: Decision of Twitter & Facebook to Censor the New York Post Turns 2020 into 1984

WASHINGTON, DC — Mike Davis, founder and president of the Internet Accountability Project (IAP), issued the statement below following the decision by Facebook and Twitter to censor The New York Post’s story on Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, and their allegedly corrupt dealings in the Ukraine:

“For the past several years, Democrats and the media repeatedly raised alarms about election interference. Today, we saw that the biggest perpetrator of such election interference are Big Tech companies like Twitter and Facebook, which are actively suppressing the New York Post’s story linking Joe and Hunter Biden to a Ukrainian influence campaign.

“The fact that Facebook would announce its policy through a spokesman who was a veteran of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and several other Democrat candidates and causes should strike fear in every American that in 2020 one political party is leveraging Big Tech to become THE PARTY straight out of George Orwell’s 1984.

“Big Tech should no longer be able to hide behind Section 230 to disavow responsibility for content from brutal regimes like China and Iran, yet at the same time censor news from American media organizations during our presidential election. It is time to end Big Tech’s sweetheart immunity deal with Congress.

“Big Tech also should no longer be able to hide behind antitrust amnesty, so they can use their monopoly power to harm market competition, small businesses, and conservatives.

“It is past the time for choosing for our lawmakers, especially Republicans: Will they side with trillion-dollar Big Tech monopolists and their liberal billionaire bosses — or will they side with small businesses, conservatives, and all other constituents back home?”

IAP is a nonprofit conservative advocacy group that holds Big Tech accountable for their profiting from human-sex trafficking, revenge-porn, the opioid epidemic and drug addiction, terrorism, and other forms of human misery, along with engaging in egregious business practices like snooping, spying, political bias against conservatives, employee abuses, and anticompetitive conduct.
